Three Bangladeshi students design the modern digital telephone system with VOIP

IT was in 1992 that both Bangladesh and India decided to discard their analog telephone systems and switch to Digital. Bangladesh bought the total setup from Ericsson and ALCATEL which is one of the best setups currently in the world, while India decided to use own resources.

Some students and teachers from IIT, Kanpur, designed the digital system for India. Initially that was not comparable to the Bangladeshi system for obvious reasons. Till 1998 they could not provide internet support with the telephone. But they were continuously trying to upgrade their system. Read the rest of this entry »
